The following instructions explain how to set-up Windows 2000 to dial and connect to Skylands Networks.
Step 1: Setting up the connection
1. Go to "Start > Settings > Networking and Dial-Up Connections"
2. Double-click the "Make New Connection" icon.
3. After the "Network Connection Wizard" opens, click [Next >].
4. For the "Network Connection Type", select "Dial-up to the Internet" and click [Next >].
5. Select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)" and then click [Next >].
6. Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem" and then click [Next >].
7. Uncheck "Use area code and dialing rules", enter the access number, and then Click [Next >].
IMPORTANT! The phone number displayed below is an example only!
8. Enter your Skylands Networks username and password and then click [Next >].
9. Enter "Skylands Networks" for the connection name and then click [Next >].
10. Select "No" for the "Do you want to set up an Internet mail account now?" option and then click [Next >]
11. Uncheck the "To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box" option and then click [Finish].
12. Right-click the Skylands Networks icon and click Create Shortcut.
13. When a window pops up stating that "Windows cannot create a shortcut here. Do you want the shortcut to be placed on your desktop instead?" Click [Yes].
14. Close the "Networking and Dial-Up Connections" folder.
15. You should now have a Skylands Networks icon on your desktop. To connect, simply double-click the icon and click Connect.
